Ağ Kənd-West is a village located in the Keshishkend district of the Daralayaz province of Azerbaijan.
Aghkand is one of the villages in Azerbaijan with the most ancient history. Proof of this is the "Salim" caravanserai, built in 1329 (14th century) in the village of Aghkand by Abu Sa'id Bahadur Khan, the ruler of the Ilkhanate state.
Geographically, Aghkand is situated at a high elevation; it was named Aghkand because it is a large village. The word "Ağ" (Agh) here is used in the sense of "height" or "elevation." In the ancient dictionary of Turkic languages, it is indicated that the word "Ağ" is used in the sense of "height," and this has been repeatedly confirmed in other ancient sources related to Turkic languages.
Until 1918, the population of the village consisted exclusively of Azerbaijanis and Turks. The village of Aghkand has produced many intellectuals, doctors of sciences, and professors.
